Skylar Schneider won gold for the U.S. in the women's road race at the Pan American Road Continental Championships in Panama on Saturday.
"I'm really happy. Allison (Jackson), who won Paris-Roubaix, was definitely one to watch, but there are so many strong athletes in Latin America that I had to focus and try to win," Schneider said.
Schneider was part of a five-rider team that included Kaia Schmidt, Zoe Tapeles, Lauren Stevens, and Amber Neben.
Neben had already won gold for the US team in the women's time trial on Tuesday and finished 50th in the road race after helping Schneider win.
Schneider won the bunch sprint in the elite women's 102 km road race held over seven laps in Panama City.
Canada's Allison Jackson (who won bronze in the time trial earlier in the week; she was the first woman to win a bronze medal in the time trial) and Canada's Jamie Harris (who won bronze in the time trial) won bronze in the time trial.
Chile's Catalina Anais Soto finished third in the sprint to take the bronze medal.
The continental championships are an important qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
There are only 88 slots in the men's and women's road races, which are allocated based on the national UCI road world rankings from the year before the Olympics.
Schneider won the fourth and final stage of the Redlands Cycling Classic and the Pan American Road Continental Championships.
