Ben Healy, Paris-Roubaix reserve to Brabants Pile runner-up

Three days after handing out bidons to his EF Education Easy Post teammates in Paris-Roubaix, Ben Healy was back in the race and back in the results in Brabants Pile.

The current Irish national time trial champion and winner of this year's GP Industria & Artigianato in Italy slipped away late in the Belgian semi-classic with Frenchman Dorian Godon (AG2R-Citroen) He came close to victory after.

Godon dominated Healy in the final sprint to help the French team win.

Healy has had a successful spring. He won two races in Italy and finished third in Spain's Trofeo Calvia, and his second place in the grueling Brabantspaille, which included 25 climbs and was held in the rain, represented another step up in the 22-year-old up-and-comer's career.

Three days earlier, Healy ran as a reserve rider for the EF Education Easy Post in Paris-Roubaix. Just before the countdown to the Queen of the Classics began, he spent the day with the staff handing out bidets to his teammates during the race, as no one was injured or sick.

The team video (opens in new tab) captures the moment Healy hands out bidets to his teammates.

"I was more nervous than the players," Healy admitted. 'They run at 50 km/h and it's not as easy as you think.'

After his runner-up finish in Brabantspaille, Healy told Eurosport after the race that he will head to the Ardennes Classics and compete in his first Grand Tour, the Giro d'Italia, in May.

"It was a good race. I felt my legs were in good shape and I had a good race, but there was a rider [Godon] who was as strong as me. But there was a horse as strong as me (Godon). But it didn't happen," Healy said.

Healy made a solo attack with around 30km to go, after bridging three riders and the remnants of the day's break.

"I knew I had to have a good run and I gave it everything I had. But when he [Godon] came spurting in, there was nothing I could do.

"I'm sure we've made some good steps up this winter and we'll keep it going.

"I want to ride the rest of the Ardennes, which is a big goal for the team, and then the Giro.
