Ineos Grenadiers has confirmed that Tom Pidcock will return to the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday with defending champion Michal Kwiatkowski.
The Dutch Classic has been decided by photo finishes on two previous occasions; in 2021, Pidcock lost to Wout Van Art (Jumbo Visma) by a few millimeters.
Last year, Kwiatkowski won by a similar margin against Benoit Kosnefrova (AG2R).
However, the straightness of the finish line and the positioning of the camera in relation to the finish line were questioned, and the finish line was heavily photographed.
Organizers upgraded equipment this year to avoid potential controversy.
Sunday's Ineos team will also include Kim Haiduk, Brandon Rivera, Magnus Sheffield, Connor Swift, and Josh Tarling.
Pidcock started the Classic season strong with a win at Strade Bianche, but a crash at Tirreno-Adriatico left him with a concussion and he missed the Milano-Sanremo race.
His main target was the Tour de Flanders, but a hunger knock left him in 52nd place.
Pidcock will compete in the Ardennes Classic and will be one of the favorites to win on Sunday along with Tadej Pogachar, who will be competing in Amstel for the first time since 2019.
