Hugh Carthy and Rigoberto Urán will lead EF Education-Easy Post in the Giro d'Italia, while Richard Carapas will be the team's sole leader in the Tour de France.

Director Sportif, Juan Manuel Garate, confirmed the Uran and Carty situation in an interview with Podcast Escapada. Both riders will use next week's Tour de Alps as their final preparation race for the Giro, which begins on May 6.

"Rigoberto Urán and Hugh Carthy will participate in the Giro d'Italia, and Richard in the Tour de France.

"For the Vuelta a España, we have not yet chosen a leader. We always fight early in the season leading up to the Tour. Then we see how it goes and plan for the end of the season."

Kersee has competed in the last five Giro, finishing ninth overall last year and eighth overall in 2021. This season, he finished eighth overall in Tirreno-Adriatico, highlighted by a summit finish on the Sassottet.

Uran will be returning to the Giro for the first time since 2016, his debut season with Slipstream, having previously finished on the podium at the 2013 and 2014 Giro, where he finished seventh overall.

The Colombian, currently ranked 36th, finished 10th overall at the Volta a Catalunya and 18th at the recent Iturria Basque.

"He's a very atypical rider. 'He may seem like a very professional, fun-loving guy, but he's very professional. He takes very good care of himself. During the race, he knows where he needs to be at every moment, and if he has to be in the Giro, he knows what he is aiming for. There is no need to give him any more motivation than that. He is already trying to do his best."
