Trek Revamps Emonda ALR with Integrated Cable and Aerotube

Trek today unveiled the latest version of its Emonda ALR. The bike is what Trek calls its best-value road race bike and is the third generation of what continues to be a performance-oriented aluminum frame choice.

The new Emonda is still constructed with Trek's Alpha aluminum tubing, but with race-specific geometry and a completely redesigned frame.

The Emonda's frame itself is made of Trek 300 series Alpha aluminum. It uses "invisible weld" technology, which Trek calls a glam-trimmed design, to create a bike that is fast, light, and fun while maintaining the smooth Emonda ride.

A carbon version of the Emonda has been in the lineup for several years, but Trek says its aluminum version has evolved to include some of the same race-winning features as the carbon bike. The Emonda ALR receives Kammtail aero tube shaping and integrated cabling, which Trek claims provides an aero boost.

The specs and component list breakdown is still unknown, but the Emonda will have an eye-catching paint finish and will be available in at least Shimano 105 mechanical and Di2 versions, with Trek's in-house component brand, Bontrager, providing the finishing kit and wheels, etc., can be expected to be supplied.

The Emonda ALR is available in Trek's H1.5 geometry, which the brand claims minimizes aero loss and aids power delivery.

Trek also decided to use a threaded T47 bottom bracket to minimize creaking noise. The frame also features 100/142mm x 12mm through-axle frame spacing and is compatible with disc brakes only.

The new Emonda ALR frame has a maximum tire clearance of 28 mm and will be set up with tubed tires. The stock tires are not tubeless compatible, so if you want to convert to tubeless, you will need to invest in new tires, valves, tubeless tape, and sealant.

The frame does not have mudguard mounts and does not have frame-integrated storage like the Trek Domane SLR.

There is also one stock 15mm bearing top cover cap for integrated cable routing for the round stem and one 15mm top cover for the Trek RCS Pro stem. Both are 15mm high, so check your size and stack height to see if this is low enough for your position.

Two Emonda ALR models and framesets will be available. European retail prices are as follows. North American prices will be announced when available.

Emonda ALR 5 Disc: £2,325 / €2,499 Emonda ALR 6 Disc: £3,150 / €3,449 Emonda ALR Frameset: £1,300 / € 1,449
