Lotte Kopecký: "Only the victory in Paris-Roubaix is enough for the team

Two-time Tour of Flanders winner Lotte Kopecky set the bar high for the SD Worx team in Paris-Roubaix Fam Avec Zwift, saying only a win in the northern hellhole would satisfy the team's expectations for Saturday.

"A win in Paris-Roubaix is enough. If we don't succeed, we will be disappointed afterwards," Kopecky said.

SD Worx has 11 wins this year, with Kopecký winning Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Nokere-Koerse, and his second Tour de Flanders. Demi Vollering beat Kopecky to win the Strade Bianche and also won the Dwar de Hländeren.

They can afford to enter the last cobbled classic of the 2023 season in a relaxed mood, but as ambitious as ever.

"We set our sights on Paris-Roubaix before the season. But that doesn't mean I'm any less motivated to win at the velodrome," Kopecky said.

"I'm much less nervous than I was a few years ago. There's less pressure on my shoulders."

"In training, things go so hard that we push each other to a higher level," Kopecky continued.

"Plus, in a race, you can let your arrows fly without worry. The other riders can take over at any time."

Kopecky's words were also used to describe her own training.

Her words were echoed by Lorena Wiebes, who promised to help Kopecký achieve her goals.

SD Worx's Paris-Roubaix fam lineup also includes Elena Cecchini, Barbara Guarischi, Christine Majerus, and Femke Marx.

"Paris-Roubaix is an important goal for Lotte. So I will support her to achieve this goal," Wiebes said.

"It's not an easy race, but I feel I've grown as a rider. But I feel I've grown as a rider. I want to play an important role for the team on the cobbles."

Kopecky noted that since this is the third Paris-Roubaix, the lack of previous races makes it more difficult for teams to develop strategies to win the race.

"Many teams are still searching for the right tactics. Twice already there have been solo victories after long breakaways. This year, the group may run to the finish. It would be nice to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix double, but it won't be easy."

"The unlucky element plays a role in Paris-Roubaix. And I expect a strong opposition from Trek-Segafredo. If they don't win, they will definitely be disappointed. Unless someone from Team SD Walks brings home the cobbles."
