Tom Pidcock will miss Milan-San Remo after being diagnosed with a mild concussion from a crash in Tirreno-Adriatico.
Tom Pidcock, leader of the Ineos Grenadiers, won the Strade Bianche with a 50km solo attack, but then crashed twice in Tirreno-Adriatico, the second time on stage 7, causing a mild concussion.
Pidcock was expected to lead the Ineos in Milan-San Remo, and the team hopes he will recover in time for the other spring classics. However, because of his mild concussion, Pidcock will likely be out of the race, and Ineos has not stated when he will return to racing.
"This is obviously disappointing for Tom and for the team.
"We saw how well he was doing at Strade Bianche and we know he was keen to carry that through to Milan - Sanremo. However, the rider's health is our top priority and he will follow the medical team's advice so that he can safely resume the Classic at 100%."
Filippo Ganna and MichaĆ Kwiatkowski are expected to lead the Ineos in Milan-San Remo.
