Jay Bain, who injured his knee on tour in the UAE, has not yet decided when he will return.

Jay Byng, who was forced to abandon the UAE tour last month due to a knee injury, has not yet set a date for his return to competition. The Australian has expressed hope that he will be able to return to training on the road next week.

"After 3 weeks of on/off riding (3 weeks was too long), training has resumed," Vine wrote on Instagram (opens in new tab).

"Coupled with extensive physio, I'm doing some easy indoor training.

"Will check on the knee and get back to you later regarding the team and possible future races.

Vine moved to UAE Team Emirates from Alpecin Deceuninck during the off-season and made an immediate impact with his new team, winning the Australian time trial title and Tour Down Under in January.

However, he struggled in the team time trial on the second stage of the UAE Tour and was ruled out the following day. His team announced that he had withdrawn from the race as a precaution because "minor knee pain from a training injury had not improved this week."

Bein, who won two stages of last year's Vuelta a EspaƱa, was scheduled to compete in the Giro d'Italia with Joan Almeida, but it is not yet clear if his injury and rest will force a revision of plans.

"I feel a little bit trapped," Bain said. But all in all, we're over the worst of it and on the verge of a magical spring."
