Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) crashed on the final stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. It was his second crash of the week, after Wout Van Aert on stage 4.
The winner of Strade Bianche crashed in the peloton in the first hour of Sunday's final stage in San Benedetto del Tronto.
He did not rejoin the race, and it was soon confirmed that he had abandoned the race and entered the Ineos team car.
Ineos Grenadiers later announced that Pidcock had withdrawn from the race "as a precaution" and that no serious injuries had been reported but that "further evaluation and treatment" was required.
Pidcock had finished ninth in Saturday's punchy stage 6, but crashed with Van Aert on the final day, starting the day 32nd overall. Both riders were not seriously injured, shook hands, and rode together to the finish.
Italian television explained that Pidcock crashed on an uphill near the mountain sprint, only 23 km into the race. He did not need immediate medical attention as he was in the Ineos Grenadiers team car.
He boarded the Ineos team bus as the race arrived in San Benedetto del Toro and started the finish circuit.
"As a precautionary measure, Tom Pidcock retired from the race following a crash on the final stage of #TirrenoAdriatico.
"He suffered minor abrasions and was treated by a doctor on the team bus. He will undergo further evaluation and treatment."
Tillman said.
After Tirreno-Adriatico, Pidcock will compete in Milan-San Remo next weekend.
