Primoš Roglic will start his season at the Tirreno-Adriatico on Monday.
The Slovenian was originally scheduled to start his season at the Volta a Catalunya later this month.
Roglic has not raced since last year's Vuelta a España, where he crashed and underwent bone graft surgery to stabilize his left shoulder.
"He has worked hard and is ready," sport director Merijn Zeeman said in a statement from the team. 'The race is the next step in getting him closer to his goal. He will start without any pressure or awareness of the consequences."
Roglic's teammate Wout Van Aert will also start the road season at Tirreno-Adriatico.
In addition to Van Aert and Roglic, Wilco Kelderman, Attila Valter, Kane Bouwman, and opening weekend winners Dylan van Baarle and Tiesj Benoot join a strong lineup for Jumbo Visma.
The Lido di Camaiore coastal time trial on day one will be an early test for Roglic. Roglic last competed in Tirreno-Adriatico in 2019, winning the overall title as part of his preparation for that year's Giro.
"After the surgery, it was a bit difficult to sit on the TT bike because of the extreme position I was in, but now I can do it normally. I will spend as much time as possible on the TT for the Giro," Roglic told Slovenian broadcaster RTV from his training camp in the Teide mountains last month. He plans to return to high-altitude training for the Giro.
The 33-year-old Roglic was convinced to return to Corsa Rosa this season by world champion Remco Evenpoel. The Belgian won the UAE Tour last week and is currently training at altitude for the Catalunya Volta.
Roglic has abandoned his defense of the Paris-Nice title he won last year, and instead Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard will lead the line for the Jumbo-Visma in France next week. Vingegaard won the Grand Camino in Galicia, warming up for his showdown with Tadei Pogacar.
