Geraint Thomas postpones return to racing...... Ineos Announces Tirreno-Adriatico Lineup

Geraint Thomas has once again changed his season plans, choosing not to compete in the Tirreno Adriatico just weeks after missing the Volta ao Algarve due to a recurrence of an illness he developed before the Tour Down Under.

Speaking to Cycling News at the Volta ao Algarve last month, Rod Ellingworth explained Thomas' schedule change

. 'Tirreno and Coppi Bartali were always part of the plan, but he may be going to Catalunya.'

However, Thomas was not on Tirreno Adriatico's team roster. Ineos Grenadiers explained that there had been a minor change in the schedule, meaning that Thomas would skip the Tirreno Adriatico. The team explained that he would most likely compete in the Catalunya Volta in preparation for the Giro d'Italia.

Ellingworth previously elaborated on the illness that was at the center of the race plan change. She explained, "I was just a little sick before TDU, but I competed in TDU and was fine. 'I got a little sick before TDU, rode in TDU, and was fine.'

At that time, the team opted for Thomas to remain in Los Angeles for the winter training block with Cameron Wolfe. However, Thomas returned from Los Angeles on February 20 and posted on Instagram (opens in new tab) that he was returning to Europe. See you again, Europe."

Ineos Grenadiers announced the Tirreno-Adriatico lineup on Sunday morning, with Thymen Arensman, Laurens De Plus, Filippo Ganna, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Michal Kwiatkowski, Tom Pidcock, and Magnus Sheffield were listed.

Meanwhile, the Paris-Nice roster includes Daniel Martinez, Omar Freire, Jonathan Narvaez, Pavel Sivakov, Connor Swift, Ben Swift, and Josh Tarling.

At the Giro d'Italia, the team is led by Geraint Thomas and stars such as Tymen Arensmann and Tao Geoghegan Hart, but also serves as backup for potential leaders.

Arensmann, in an interview with Cycling News, appeared to deviate slightly from the team's vision, assuming that the Dutchman would be part of the team's three-leader strategy.

Ellingworth, however, quickly dismissed the suggestion. Gelant is the team's leader, and Tiemen is his backup."
