Trek Wants You to Ditch Your Car with New Fetch Cargo Series of Bikes

Trek has entered the cargo bike segment with the launch of the Fetch e-Cargo Bike Series The Fetch+ series, consisting of two bikes, was developed to help families travel sustainably. The series is designed with children as one of its main focuses and promises to make it easier for riders to carry both children and luggage.

Cargo bike sales have grown dramatically over the past few years, with more and more people turning to cargo bikes as an environmentally friendly alternative to cars for transportation. Recognizing this growing trend, Trek has designed the two-model Fetch+ e-cargo series, citing research conducted around the world, to help more families get on bikes and replace their cars.

The Fetch+2 is the more compact cargo solution of the two models in the series and is intended to solve family mobility issues. the Fetch+2 can be fitted with two aftermarket child seats in the rear to safely transport children. The Fetch+2 can be equipped with two aftermarket child seats in the rear to safely transport the child. As the child grows, the child seat can be replaced with what Trek calls a "family package" of "safari bars" for the child to hold on to, footrests on both sides of the bike, backrests, and seat pads. the total carrying weight of the Fetch+2 is 200 kg. the rear panniers and rack are each can carry up to 72 kg, and the front rack can carry up to 9 kg.

The luggage can be stored in PVC-free hard plastic panniers, which also serve to protect the child's legs. There are also drainage holes in the bottom to prevent flooding and to help clean up in case the owner needs to use a hose to drain the water. The panniers and mudguards will be available in four different colors for customization. Lighting is also ensured by pre-installed lights front and rear, connected to Bosch Power Pack batteries.

The larger Fetch+4 model is designed to carry more luggage and children. The large 240-liter front bucket with a maximum load capacity of 80 kg can accommodate up to five children. The bucket has two reclining 5-point harness seats (max. 25 kg) and a headrest.

Transportation options can be customized with the front bucket, and an additional front bench and child seat can be added. Panniers and child seats can also be added to the rack at the rear of the bike. In inclement weather, a TPU plastic "rain fly" can be added to cover the child and protect him or her from the wind and rain.

The Fetch+4 also features a unique cable-assisted steering system on the front end to improve handling and turn confidence on larger bikes. This means that the handlebar only needs to turn 65 degrees in order for the front wheel to turn 85 degrees.

Both Fetch+ models will use Bosch's new BES3 smart digital e-bike system. The drive unit itself is a Bosch specially developed cargo line that packs 85 nm of torque along with 250 watts of power to power the additional bulk of the cargo bike along with consistent and safe acceleration, with only pedal assist. The motor and transmission will also automatically disengage when the e-bike exceeds the maximum speed limit, depending on the region in which it is sold.

Both Fetch+ models have four different riding modes: eco, tour+, auto, and cargo. In particular, the Cargo mode is specially adapted to provide up to 400% of the rider's own power and optimize the starting behavior under full load; the Fetch+2 is equipped with a Bosch Powertube 500Wh battery mounted on the down tube, while the +4 model is equipped with Bosch's flagship Powertube 750Wh battery.

In addition, an integrated hill-hold feature prevents the bike from rolling backwards when descending hills with heavy or valuable loads, and both bikes are equipped with a kickstand.

The entire system can be controlled by the two bikes using LED remotes on the handlebars in conjunction with Bosch's eBike Flow app. The app can be used to adjust the riding mode, get a complete overview of range, battery life, and service reservations, as well as all the usual riding indicators such as speed and time. In addition, by attaching a smartphone to the bike's handlebar smart phone grips, the smartphone becomes the e-bike's display. An LED remote control mounted on the handlebar allows the user to easily switch between smartphone screens. It also has a built-in wireless phone charging function, which can be used as long as the phone is compatible with this technology.

In addition to one of the best bike locks, Trek recommends using the Bosch eBike Flow app with e-bike locking for even better theft protection The Fetch +4 model also has a Connect module with built-in e-bike alarm. Intelligent motion detection detects if the bike is being moved and alerts the user with sound and light.

Each bike comes in only one size and has an adjustable one-size-fits-all design: the Fetch+2 has an adjustable stem and seat post, while the Fetch+4 should fit riders 155-190 cm and has an adjustable dropper seat post

The Fetch+2 has an adjustable stem and seat post.

The frame is made of Trek's Alpha Gold aluminum, with 20-inch wheels on the Fetch+2 and 27.5-inch wheels on the rear and 20-inch front wheels on the Fetch+4.

The frame has a Trek lifetime warranty, and the motor has a 2-year Bosch warranty. The battery has a Bosch 500-cycle or 2-year warranty, and the bikes are serviced by certified Trek and Bosch technicians.

The battery can be charged on or off the bike, and a full charge takes about 4.5 hours for Fetch+2 and 6 hours for Fetch+4. Trek dealers also offer a Range Boost battery option.
