Biniam Guillemay to debut at the 2023 Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, and Tour de France.

Intermarché Circus Wanty star Biniam Girmay has announced his goals for the 2023 season. Debuts at the cobbled monuments of the Tour de Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, as well as a return to Milan-San Remo and a debut in the Tour de France have joined his hit list.

The Eritrean shot to stardom in his first full season at the World Tour level last spring with a stunning victory in Ghent-Wevelgem, beating out Christophe Laporte, Dries Van Gestel, and Yasper Steuyven.

He followed that up with a stage win in his debut race, the Giro d'Italia, beating Mathieu Van der Pol to establish himself as a rising star in the peloton.

Gil May will make his 2023 season debut at the Challenge Mallorca later this month and begin preparations for the spring Monument Triple Crown and summer Grand Boucle.

Last season, the 22-year-old cut the spring short before Flanders in order to return home to Eritrea, but this time he will take on Belgium's biggest race on his birthday, April 2, before closing the spring with Paris-Roubaix a week later on April 9.

Milan-San Remo in March, where he finished 12th in his debut race in 2022, is also scheduled after Tirreno-Adriatico. Later in the month, he will head to the E3 Saxo Bank Classic to defend his Ghent-Wevelgem title, which leads to two cobbled monuments.

Gil May and Intermarché Circus Wanty also confirmed that he will make his Tour debut this year. Earlier in the week, team performance manager Eike Wisbeke told WielerFlits (opens in new tab) that he is still choosing whether to return to the Giro or the Tour, or both.

"He's trying to benefit from all the races. 'Maybe it's still too light for Roubaix, but you have to think about the whole thing. This race is very good for his bike experience. He has surprised us before, like in Ghent-Wevelgem last year.

"If there is a Roubaix stage in next year's Tour, he will already have Roubaix in his legs. Besides, it is Vinium's personal dream to run Roubaix."

Intermarché Circus Wanty revamped its team this winter, with Alexander Kristoff the main dropout from the core of the Classics among the 12 eliminated riders.

Sprinter and classic Mike Tunissen moved from Jumbo Visma, and the team has built around Gilmay for the future, with Nicolo Bonifazio, Dion Smith, and Lilian Calmejane also having classic experience. Young Belgian players, including promising prospects Rene Hellegotz and Arne Marit, round out the list of acquisitions.
