Jonas Vingegaard will lead Jumbo-Visma in the 2023 Tour de France.

The Jumbo Visma men's team revealed its goals for 2023 during a team presentation in Amsterdam. Jonas Vingegaard will defend the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, while Primoš Roglic will not be part of the Dutch team's Tour de France project next season as he and Wilco Kelderman aim for the Giro d'Italia.

Wout van Aert and newcomer Dylan van Baarle will share status with the team leader before competing in the Tour de France to support Vingegaard, and will likely join forces to target the cobbled classic.

Sixty riders from the men's, women's, and development teams attended the launch in Amsterdam, where Jumbo Visma also showed off its 2023 racing colors and SRAM-powered Cervelo bikes. The team will also switch to Nimble shoes and Oakley sunglasses.

Cycling News will publish a separate article on Marianne Vos and the women's team.

New additions to the 2023 men's team include Wilco Kelderman, who will race the Giro d'Italia with Roglic, and British talents Tom Grogg, Jan Tratnick, Attila Walther, and Van Baare. The 29-member 2023 lineup includes, veterans Robert Gesink, Sepp Kuss, and Robert Gesink, Giro d'Italia mountain prize winner Kane Bouwman, and up-and-coming sprinters Olaf Kooij, Christophe Laporte, and Thiesj Benoot.

Roglic did not attend the team presentation due to family reasons, but doubted if he was fit enough to target the Giro d'Italia after undergoing complicated shoulder surgery in October. His return to outdoor training came before the recent Jumbo-Visma training camp, where the team's 2023 goals were finalized.

"I was happy to have Primoz by my side and my wish was to return to the Tour de France to defend my title. I'm happy to go and I'll try to make another go," Vingegaard said in a live presentation.

"Going to the Tour is different from last year. There is more pressure, but less pressure. If I don't win again in my career, I can still be super happy with what I did."

"I'm not going to win again.

In an announcement from Jumbo Visma, Roglic described the Giro d'Italia as "my favorite race, but I haven't won it yet."

"I'm still recovering from surgery, but I hope to be in good shape by May. One way or another, I'm going to do everything I can to make that happen."

Vingegaard will be Jumbo Visma's only proven Grand Tour leader at the Tour de France, and team management is confident in its decision. Roglic will face Remco Evenpole, Geraint Thomas, Thibaut Pinot, and Joan Almeida in the Giro d'Italia.

"Jonas will start first in the Tour. It is our duty to defend our title and that is what we want to do," explained Merijn Zeeman, Senior Director Sportif.

"At the end of the season, we have lengthy discussions and evaluations with the race coaches and performance coaches. We brainstorm about strategy and discuss with Jonas, Primoz, and Wout individually to determine the qualities of the team."

"We also have a meeting with the race coaches and performance coaches."

"We have a meeting with the race coaches and performance coaches.

"I think we have the great luxury of having two great leaders in two great Grand Tours. In the Giro we can build a very strong team around Primorsch, and he has Wilco Kelderman by his side.

"When you look at the parcours of the Giro, it suits Primoz very well and we have unfinished business at the Giro, in 2019 Primoz got on the podium and said he wants to go back one day. I think this is the right year to do that."

"The Tour de France team with Primoz and Jonas is the stronger team, but we are confident we can win the Tour the way we want to. We have the same ambition for the Giro."
