Alpecin-Deceuninck picks up Axel Laurance from B&B Hotels-KTM

Mathieu Van Der Pol's Alpecin Deceuninck has announced that it has acquired promising young Frenchman Axel Laurens from the B&B Hotels-KTM team, which was disbanded after failing to secure sponsorship for the scheduled 2023 season.

Laurance will compete in the team's developmental team for the 2023 season before moving to the World Tour team in 2024, Alpecin Deceuninck announced. The team has already secured up to 30 players for its first World Tour season in 2023.

The 21-year-old joined B&B Hotels as a trainee in 2021 and signed as a neo-pro this season.

He scored his first WorldTour podium at the Bretagne Classic-Ouest France in August, finishing second behind Wout van Aert, and he won the CRO Race in a sprint on stage 3 ahead of two Bahraini riders, Jonathan Milan and Matej Mohorič.
