Chloe Dygert undergoes surgery to treat tachycardia

Chloe Daigier underwent surgery to treat supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).

The North American rider revealed this information in a post to Instagram with a video clip of herself lying in a hospital bed.

"My SVT was bothersome, but not life-threatening (if I had stopped immediately during training)," wrote Dygert, who will begin his third season at Canyon Slam next year. [His heart rate peaked at 219, then 205 for 5 minutes, and remained at 195 for another 10 minutes.

"My heart rate flew between 180 and 205 for 35 minutes. I pulled over and sat on the side of the road to wait for my heart rate to drop below 150.

Dygert explained that the frequency of SVT episodes had increased in recent months, but she had been suffering from this symptom for almost a decade.

"It first started in 2015 and only happened once or twice a year until this year," she wrote of the condition, which is rarely life-threatening but can cause cardiac arrest and loss of consciousness.

"But in the last two months alone it has been caused five times. My fear is that I will have a seizure and stop during a race.

Dygert has endured a tough two years after suffering a brutal crash in the 2020 Road World Championships time trial. She was out of racing for nine months after crashing into a guardrail in the Imola time trial and suffering devastating damage to her knee.

Last year she participated in the Olympic road race and time trial, but her 2022 season was again ruined when she contracted the Epstein-Barr virus.

However, the SVT surgery appears to be only a minor step in her recovery, and Dygert revealed that she has already returned to cycling and training.

"I was awake during the surgery and lightly sedated. 'The pain was like nothing I'd ever felt before. During the recovery period, I was not allowed to move for four hours to give my arteries time to recover from the catheter ablation.

"I was able to ride my bike on the fifth day after the surgery and only had one minor hiccup on the fifth day.
