Israel - Premier Tech to win Women's World Team title.

The Roland Cogeas Edelweiss Squad will change its name to Israel Premier Tech Roland in 2023. The owners of the Women's World Team have confirmed that they will increase the team's funding to accommodate the name change and Israel Premier Tech's transition to a more significant title sponsorship role.

The team also revealed that it has applied to launch a corresponding development team next year, called Israel Premier Tech Roland Development, with the same funding partner.

"We are very happy because we want to put a new spin on our business and our team. It is important for us to support riders in countries with war issues. We will be getting riders from Ukraine, Rwanda, Afghanistan, and Israel, but we also looked for riders from Palestine. It's very important to us," team owner Ruben Contreras said of the new development program, which is partially supported by Bike to Freedom.

On the official social media channels of the Roland Cogeas Edelweiss Squad, the team announced all the players for next year's Women's World Team.

The top team will include 12 riders; Swedish time trial champion Nathalie Eklund (Massi-Tactic), Silvia Magri (Born To Win G20 Ambedo), Sofia Collinelli (Aromitalia-) Basso Bikes-Vaiano), Mia Griffin (IBCT), Lara Vieceli (Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling), Thị Thật Nguyễn of Lotto Soudal Ladies, Multum Accountants Ladies Cycling Team's Fien Delbaere, Sopela Women's Team's Claire Steels, and Valcar Travel & Service's Elena Pirrone; [Swiss road race champions Caroline Baur and Hannah Buch, Tamara Dronova-Barabolina will race under the new flag of Israel Premier Tech Roland next season, Contreras acknowledged.

This year, the Laurent Cogias Edelweiss Squad competed on the Women's World Tour for the first time; in February, Jean Bélanger, president and CEO of the Canadian company Premier Tech, a financial backer of the men's World Team Israel Premier Tech, and Israel Premier Tech partner, Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvain Adams, stepped in to help fund the women's program.

Although the new sponsor had a prominent position on the jersey that year, the team did not change its official name on the license and remained Laurent Cogeas Edelweiss Squad. However, the team indicated at the time that this partnership could become a longer-term collaboration in the future.

The men's and women's world teams do not operate under the same parent company. Contreras, through his company Cogeas, owns the Laurent Cogeas Edelweiss Squad, and in taking over the name of Israel Premier Tech Laurent in a more formal capacity in 2023, he will again retain ownership of the Women's World Team and the new development team to Cyclingnews.

"I am the owner of Israel Premier Tech Roland WWT and Israel Premier Tech is the sponsor. Together we will create a beautiful project," Contreras said.

Roland, a Swiss food company, will remain the title sponsor. Contreras confirmed that Cogeas, the insurance and financial brokerage company he founded and which owns the women's team, will not be included as a title sponsor for the license. He also confirmed that Roland and Cogeas will have a role in the men's team.

The UCI announced new rules that will go into effect on November 1, allowing women's world teams to officially register and partner with a corresponding development team starting next season.

Contreras could not yet confirm the roster for the Israel Premier Tech Roland Development team. However, he stated that the team has applied for a continental license and hired riders from the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Uganda, and Ethiopia. He also confirmed that both teams will be based in the Champagne and Eparinges regions of Switzerland.

Contreras also said that part of the development team will be supported by the Bike to Freedom Foundation, an organization he co-founded this year that is based in Eparinges and supports young athletes in cycling with lodging, food, medicine, training, preparation, competition, and research.

"Cycling belongs to everyone, no matter where they are in the world. Because cycling rhymes with passion. The Laurent Cogeas Edelweiss Squad is proud to announce the creation of a development team to compete in Continental for the 2023 season," the team wrote on its social media channels.
