Marc Bracke, former director of Dolcini Van Eyck, dies at 53

Former cycling team manager Marc Bracke has died at the age of 53.

Bracke was the team manager of the former Dorcini Van Eyck women's cycling team. The Belgian UCI women's team started in 2016 as Lares-Waowdeals and ended in 2021 with title sponsor Doltcini-Van Eyck-Proximus.

"Doltcini Sportswear is also greatly saddened by the news of Marc Bracke's passing," Doltcini Sportswear wrote in an official statement on Tuesday.

"Marc worked closely with our clothing company for several years as the former team manager of the Dortocini Van Eyck Proximus CT.

"We wish his family, especially his partners, friends, and acquaintances great strength in Marc's passing. May he rest in peace."

Bracke had not worked in sports since the middle of 2021.

On October 9, 2020, the UCI announced that its Ethics Committee had determined that Bracke had violated its code of ethics following allegations of harassment by two female riders.

And on June 23, 2021, the sport's governing body announced that its disciplinary committee had imposed a three-year suspension on Bracke.

Bracke denied the allegations and stated that he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Bracke could not return to the sport until June 2024.
