Gabriel Rasch is leaving Ineos Grenadier after 10 years as rider and director sportif amid reports of a management shakeup at the British team.
Rasch, a Norwegian who joined the team as a rider in 2013 and retired midway through 2014, has been at the helm of the team as Director Sportif for the past eight and a half years. However, this season will be his last, and his move to Norway's second division, Uno X, was announced on Monday.
"I am delighted for this opportunity to join the journey that Uno-X has started," said Sporif. I've watched the team grow and admire the commitment to developing young talent in Norway and Denmark." I can't wait to be a part of this."
Uno-X has made great strides since their promotion from the continental level to the pro team level in 2020, with invitations to bigger races and ambitions to challenge the World Tour in the long-term future.
They are focused on young Norwegian talent and have a roster for 2023 that includes 2021 Tour de Lavenir winner Tobias Halland Johannessen and new veteran signing Alexander Kristoff.
Rasch's move was first reported by the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws about a management change at Ineos Grenadiers.
Former Paris-Roubaix winner Servais Knaven, a Tour de France regular since 2011 and at the helm of the team's classics team, was also said to be on the verge of stepping down, as was the Australian director who joined the staff in 2016 The same goes for Brett Lancaster, with former player Ian Stannard said to be one of his replacements. He retires at the end of 2020, after which he will work for the Trinity Racing team as director sportif.
Ineos Grenadiers has yet to comment on the management staff changes.
HLN reports also suggested that Davide Bramati, director of Quick Step Alpha Vinyl, might move to Ineos Grenadiers. However, Bramati has denied any such move.
"You have seen some rumors in the media concerning my future.
"I have known (team boss) Patrick Lefebvre for a long time and he backed me as a rider and as a young sports director. I am also part of a family called the Wolfpack. We have made a lot of memories together, and even more so in the last few months.
"I am honored to have my name mentioned in such an article, but my heart is with Quickstep Alpha Vinyl.
The Ineos Grenadiers include Steve Cummings, who joined this year and instantly became the lead director sportif of the Tour de France, Matteo Tosat, Dario Cioni, Christian Nies, Ori Cookson, Xavier Zandio and others.
Roger Hammond is the team's race director, and the performance group has nine director sportifs and ten staff members.
