[Remco Evenepoel has added Binche-Simei-Binche to his schedule to debut his new rainbow jersey before the end of the season.

The one-day semi-classic on home turf in Belgium will take place on October 4, two days after a ceremony in the capital Brussels.

"No, no, no," Evenpoel said in response to an inquiry about upcoming races immediately after Sunday's world championship road race in Australia.

"There might be a race in a nightclub," he added, "but I don't know.

But with sponsors no doubt eager to start marketing the new world champion ASAP, and fans eager to see the rising star of Belgian cycling in the flesh, Evenpoel has decided to race in Binche-Chimay-Binche.

"Patrick Lefebvre of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl contacted me today to let me know that he wanted Lemko Evenpoel to race in Binche," said organizer Jean-Luc Vandenbrouck. It was an unexpected call, but one that made me very happy," said organizer Jean-Luc Vandenbrouck.

The 1.1-category race, also known as the Memorial Franck Van den Broeck after the Belgian prodigy Franck Van den Broeck, who died in 2009, is held in the Walloon region, southwest of Brussels. The undulating course usually has few group finishes and features a variety of sprinters such as Dany Van Poppel and Arnaud Demaret.

The race is also a farewell race for another Belgian star, as Philippe Gilbert, the last Belgian to win a road race world title 10 years before Evenpoel, retires after a long and illustrious career.

Before that, Evenepoel will host a celebration in his honor at the Grand Place in Brussels.

Brussels Mayor Philippe Kroes has already announced that the celebration will take place on October 2, and Evenepoel will join Belgium's men's soccer team, men's field hockey team, and the Olympians of the 2021 Tokyo Games in the public acclaim at Grand-Place The team will be the first to be honored by the public at the Grand Prix.

Evenpoel's return is expected to be a major national event, with camera crews awaiting his return at Brussels airport around noon on Tuesday, September 27.

He returns to Belgium not only as a world champion, but also as Belgium's first Grand Tour winner in 44 years, having won the Vuelta a EspaƱa earlier this month. Evenpoel went straight from Spain to Australia to compete in the world championships.
