Pestleberger Moves from Bora Hansgrohe to BikeExchange

BikeExchange-Jayco has announced the signing of 30-year-old all-rounder Lukas Pestlberger from Bora-Hansgrohe.

According to the team's press release, the Austrian will join the team along with Zdenek Stival and is expected to strengthen the Classics roster, sprint train, and Grand Tour team.

Pestlberger's resume includes a victory on the opening stage of the 2017 Giro d'Italia, where he attacked in the last 2km and won the first Maria Rosa solo, without honors to sprinter Caleb Ewan.

His only other major result was a stage win at last year's Criterium du Dauphiné. Pestleberger held on to the yellow jersey until stage 6.

Such versatility led Bike Exchange-Jacco manager Brent Copeland to appoint the 30-year-old Pestlberger. Pestleberger has seen time and again that he is a valuable athlete who can be a force throughout the race." [He] will strengthen the team's foundation for 2023 and beyond, not only to aim for the overall in the stage races, but also to develop the Classics group and sprint train.

"He has a lot to give and I am confident he will bring a lot of experience to share with the other riders. It will be good to see him racing in Team BikeExchange-Jayco colors next year and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.

Pestleberger and Stybar are just two of the riders widely rumored to be moving teams in 2023. Mark Cavendish and Fernando Gaviria are the most prominent riders who have yet to announce their new teams in a season of major moves. Richard Kalapas will move from Ineos Grenadiers to EF Education Easy Post, while Adam Yates will move from Ineos to UAE Team Emirates.
