Remco Evenpoel, his father, and Patrick Lefebvre, team manager of Quick Step Alfavinir, shared dinner in Belgium on Thursday night.
Lefebvre posted a photo of the dinner on Instagram, describing the meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant "Sir Quinten" west of Brussels as a "nice business dinner."
Lefebvre said the dinner would talk not only about transfer news, but also about Evenpoel's victory celebrations in central Brussels on Sunday, his rainbow jersey debut in Binche-Cimay-Binche on Tuesday, and his Grand Tour plans for 2023.
Patrick Evenpoel is Lemko's agent and father, but it is unclear if he has spoken about raising Lemko's current contract after his Vuelta a España and world championship wins elevated his status.
On Thursday, Lefebvre described reports of Lemko Evenpoel's move to Ineos Grenadiers as "fart in a bottle," a Flemish euphemism.
Lefebvre wants Evenpoel to honor his current contract until 2026, and for Ineos Grenadiers to sell Evenpoel, which would affect his five-year sponsorship deals with Soudal, Quick Step, Specialized, and others, he would have to offer €100 million. He warned that he would have to offer a sum in excess of
"Everything in the world is for sale, but you have to do the math for that," Lefebvre told Sporza.
"Five-year contracts with all sponsors. Twenty-five million sponsorship deals a year would be $125 million. And they will all claim compensation (for losing Evenpoel). By the way, we are not giving them the same money for the transfer. There is still a lot to add."
Lefebvre revealed to Velonews that team principal Dave Brailsford sent him a message after the World Championships, sparking reports that Ineos Grenadiers is interested in Evenpoel: " If you ever want to sell him someday, give me a call."
Velonews also reported that the billionaire owner of petrochemical company Ineos is eager to win the Tour de France after failing to win the yellow jersey for three years. With a generational shift underway and Egan Bernal recovering from a life-threatening accident in January, the British team lacks a true Tour de France contender; when Team Sky was founded in 2010, they were able to buy Jonathan Vaughters' Garmin-Slipstream team contract from They bought Bradley Wiggins, who went on to win the 2012 Tour de France.
Lefebvre admitted that in response to Brailsford's provocative message, he suggested that if they wanted Ivenpoel, Ineos would have to buy the entire Quick-Step Alphavinir team.
"You may not get the rider, but you may get the whole team," Lefebvre wrote, to which Brailsford responded: "Good idea. I'll put that message on the record."
Both Ineos Grenadiers and QuickStep-AlphaVinyl declined to comment on the matter.
Evenepoel will return to training after his return from Australia and will debut the rainbow jersey on October 4 in Binche-Chimay-Binche after being celebrated on the main square in Brussels on Sunday. He also has a wedding on October 9.
Evenpole will then attend a reception for Quick-Step Alphavinir and will go on a honeymoon before starting preseason training in December.
