CRO race organizers have announced that Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard will be on the start line for the UCI 2.1 ranked race, which will begin on September 27.
Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) and Majdanij Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious) are also on the provisional start list.
CRO Racing has not yet announced the full team roster, but Trek Segafredo and Israel Premier Tech, which is in the middle of a World Tour points battle, are expected to form the team.
Vingegaard has not raced since becoming the first Danish Tour de France champion since Bjarne Riis. He missed last month's Tour of Denmark and will miss next week's UCI Road World Championships in Wollongong, Australia.
The decision came after a tough Tour de France, which led to resentment from the Danish federation after Vingegaard missed last year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.
"I had a dialogue with Jumbo-Visma before and after the Tour de France. And after the Tour they clearly announced that it was not in their plans for Vingegaard to compete in the World Championships," Danish coach Anders Lund recently told TV 2 Sport.
"I always hope that every professional athlete raises his hand to run for the national team. But I take it into account and I can see from the members that it works anyway. So I sleep well at night."
Some have suggested that Vingegaard is having a hard time adjusting to his status as a Tour de France champion, and France Maassen, director of Jumbo Visma, said that the Dane has had a "very tough time" since winning the yellow jersey
"He is having a very tough time," he revealed.
"We wanted to show him off at the Tour de Denmark, but you also have to understand that winning the Tour de France is hard.
Bernal, meanwhile, has made a low-key return to racing after a near-fatal accident in January when he plowed full speed into the back of a parked city bus while training on his time trial bike.
In Croatia, he will join Jonathan Castroviejo, MichaĆ Kwiatkowski, Geraint Thomas, and Elia Viviani on the team.
