Transfer Information: Juan Empel signs with Jumbo Bisma Women's

Femme van Empel, the reigning cyclocross world champion in the under-23 category, has signed a two-year contract with the Jumbo-Visma Women's WorldTeam.

The Dutch rider will continue to race cyclocross at Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal after this weekend's season opener, but will be teammates with elite world champion Marianne Vos in Jumbo-Visma's black and yellow starting January 1.

"I'm still a novice compared to her, but I hope we can help each other in the second half of the cross season. After all, two are stronger than one," Van Empel said in a press release.

"I am thrilled with this step. It feels like a reward for all the hard work I've put in over the last few years. The best thing a rider can achieve is to join the World Tour. I am confident that I will receive the best instruction here, not only in terms of training and resources, but also in terms of nutrition. I think that is very important. I do a lot on my own and try to do the right things, but soon I will be sure that everything will be done right."

The team will allow Van Empel to continue competing in multiple disciplines, mixing road and mountain bike racing in the summer and cyclocross in the winter.

"I want to discover what I can still achieve in mountain biking. Team Jumbo-Visma will help me to do that."

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to race in the Netherlands.

Van Empel, the Dutch off-road champion, has little experience on the road, but competed in the Thuringia Ladies Tour with the national team this season and in the Barroise Ladies Tour and Lotto Belgium Tour last year.

"I don't have much experience on the road, but I am open to everything. I want to discover my qualities. I can't wait to run multi-day races and spring classics. I think I'm an all-around rider. Both flat and uphill are good for me. And I'm explosive, so sprints and uphill finishes should suit me too."

Trek-Segafredo announced new contracts with two athletes who had injury-plagued seasons. American player Taylor Wiles and Welsh player Elinor Beckstedt return with the motivation to return to their usual level.

Wiles was diagnosed with iliac artery endarticular fibrosis and underwent successful corrective surgery, which ended his 2022 season early. Now back on the bike, Wiles is looking forward to another year with the US team.

"I am very excited to extend my contract with Trek-Segafredo for another year. 'This season has been incredibly difficult for me because I got injured and had to basically take a year off from racing. The team has supported me through all of this and helped me a lot with my recovery and motivation for the future.

"I know I am capable of more than I have been able to show for the last few years, hampered by my external iliac artery internal fibrosis, and I am very excited about what I can do now that I am on the other side of surgery. I felt like I was off the bike my whole life, but I'm finally back on two wheels. I have to do very specific physical therapy every day to regain strength and balance, but I am very motivated."

Elinor Beckstedt, 20, spent most of her young career battling injuries, but after breaking her collarbone again this spring, she had a solid season, winning the team time trial at the Serratigit Challenge and taking silver at the British Time Trial Championships.

"I'll be back in the future.

"I am very happy to be with Trek-Segafredo for the next two years. The support I've received from the coaches and staff throughout the tough few seasons has been great, and I feel I've improved a lot by training and racing well and without injury." I hope to have a good Classics season next year and get a chance to showcase my strength in both the Spring Classics and Time Trials." "

Reigning Trinidad and Tobago national champion Tennielle Campbell has signed a new two-year contract with BikeExchange-Jayco that will keep her on the World Team through 2024.

The 24-year-old, who won a stage at last season's Tour Féminin International de l'Ardèche, is building a solid foundation as a teammate and gaining important experience with the 2024 Olympics as a major future goal.

"Since signing with the team in 2021, I haven't had many personal results, but I have gained a lot of experience in the last two seasons.

"I haven't fully discovered my abilities yet, but I think I've been able to show the team what I can do, especially in the cobbled classics. Furthermore, being a domestique rider for the past two seasons has allowed me to discover new strengths.

"I am looking forward to next year when my opportunities will be better and I can look forward to being on the podium at the end of the race with both the National Team and Team BikeExchange - Jayco.

"I believe we will be able to get on the podium more next year. I am looking forward to seeing how much we can accomplish."

Alicia González and Lourdes Oyarbide, founding riders of the Movistar women's team, will remain with the Spanish team after a very successful season.

"I think it's been a great year for the team. "The Giro (Donne), Tour (de France), and Vuelta (Serratisit Challenge) victories of Annemiek (van Fruten) are the main reasons, but we are also competing for wins when she is not there - for example, Paula (Patiño) after a great month in May.

"This is my sixth year with the Movistar team and so many things have really changed since the beginning. Our group is getting stronger and more responsible with each passing season, and there is always someone to fight for victory. I think the way we race has also improved, while the atmosphere among the riders has always been good, making it easier to work together. I am very excited about next year's lineup, which I expect to be even stronger.

Oyarbide also said he was happy to be able to continue for another season, although he is now concentrating on the domestique role. 'It's been a really intense season and a great reminder to continue my progress. I was able to keep getting good results in all kinds of races, including stage races and one-day events, and I was also able to improve my stability, which is the team's greatest asset. I look forward to enjoying our sixth year together, trusting each other and embracing the great ambitions of the group as a whole."
