As the 2022 season draws to a close, the UCI Road World Championships will be held in Wollongong, Australia.

The 2022 World Championships will be broadcast around the world, primarily in Europe, from September 18-25, with all races broadcast from start to finish.
As one of the last major events of the season, it is no surprise that the start lists will be filled with big names looking to battle it out for the title of World Champion.
On the men's side, two-time world champion Julien Alaphilippe (FRA), who crashed at the Vuelta a España, is back and looking to add a third rainbow jersey to his collection.
Wout Van Aert is another strong contender, and 2020 silver medalist Remco Evenpole will join the Belgian team. Classics Mathieu van der Pol (Netherlands) and Biniam Girmay (Eritrea) are also among the leading contenders.
Michael Matthews (Australia) is the home favorite, and the versatile sprinter has often performed well at the World Championships. Alexander Kristoff (Norway) and Matteo Trentin (Italy) are also players to watch.
Climbers Tadej Pogachar (Slovenia) and Nairo Quintana (Colombia) will look to take advantage of the hilly course, while others Magnus Korth (Denmark), Fred Wright (Great Britain), Filippo Ganna and Alberto Bettiol (Italy), Stefan Kühn (Switzerland) are also players to watch during the week.
In the women's race, Annemiek van Fruten, Marianne Foss, Demi Vollering, and Ellen van Dijk are among the Dutch at the top of the start list.
Lotte Kopecky (Belgium), Kasia Niewiadoma (Poland), Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Denmark), and Italian duo Elisa Longo Borghini and reigning road champion Elisa Balsamo are also big contenders.
Elsewhere, look out for Juliette Laboux (France), Grace Brown (Australia), Kristen Faulkner (USA), and Marlen Reusser (Switzerland).
