The British Cycling Federation has been forced to disqualify and ban Cameron Jeffers, the first national e-race champion, after it was revealed that he had manipulated his profile and deactivated special equipment on the Zwift platform.

The governing body charged him with unsportsmanlike conduct, expunged his results, banned him for six months and fined him £250.

British Cycling Integrity and Compliance Director Rod Findlay said: "Protecting fair play in our sport is at the core of our responsibility as a governing body. The fact that we were able to investigate the violations and uphold the charges reflects the strength of our new disciplinary rules and our determination to pursue misconduct."

He stated.

According to the Guardian, Jeffers used a bot to manipulate his profile by weighing 45 kg and riding over 200 km at 2000 watts. This ride allowed him to unlock his Zwift Concept Z1 bike and improve his performance on the ride.

Jeffers accepted his punishment, writing on Twitter, "I accept that this behavior is unethical and unsporting and have fully cooperated with BC's investigation. I will continue to support BC and use what I have learned from my mistake to help BC grow."

British Cycling awarded the title to second-place finisher James Phillips.

The UCI announced last month that it will add eRacing as a sanctioned discipline, opening up hosting to other providers after hosting the eSports World Championships on the Zwift platform in 2020.
