Pauline Ferrand-Prevot crashed and broke her nose in a mountain bike test event for the Tokyo Olympics. The world champion will return to France to undergo surgery to repair the fracture.

"It was a violent crash during the test event. Tomorrow I will return to France for surgery," Ferrand-Prevot posted on Twitter.

Ferrand-Prevot underwent surgery in February for iliac artery entrapment in both legs and was out for several months to recover.

In an impressive comeback, she won the World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy, and the UCI World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada.

She traveled to Tokyo last week to participate in a test event for mountain bikes to be used in next summer's Olympics. However, 10 minutes into the race, he crashed in a rock garden. He was rushed to the hospital, where X-rays confirmed a broken nose.

"Some messages on social media are harder to write than others," she wrote on social media.

"Ten minutes into the race, I fell hard on the first rock section because of someone else. After an x-ray at the hospital, it was discovered that my nose was broken. Tomorrow, as soon as I get home, I'm going to see a specialist. Anyway, I didn't like my nose. Wait a minute, I didn't even cry."
