After the success of pair No. 2 Mark Cavendish and Owain Doull, the second day at the Lee Valley Velodrome in London saw two of the stars of this year's Six Day London, Elia Viviani and Caleb Yuan, show their skills.

Viviani won the 40-lap Delaney race early in the day, ahead of Doull, and followed that up with a win in the Madison Chase with Simone Conssonni.

"When I made my full attack with 20 laps to go, I thought, 'No one will be able to keep up with me.'

"At that moment, my sprinter spirit came out. I tried to jump on the last lap, but Michel was the man in that race. All I had to do was follow him," he said of Delny bike pilot Michel Warten, who contributed to Cavendish's first day victory.

But Cavendish and Dool soon got their revenge in the first Madison Chase of the night.

"It was agonizing, agonizing, agonizing, but when you run with 'Cab,' the crowd gets excited and pulls you up to the next place," Dool said.

But like Doull that day, his partner, Cavendish, would later miss out on victory in the elimination race as Dutchman Wim Stroettinga overpowered the 34-year-old crowd favorite.

Ewan then won the 7.5-km points race with a deft racemanship from the rider who won three stages in his debut Tour de France in July.

"Yesterday was a bit of a shock," Ewan said.

French pair Bryan Coquard and Donavan Grondin retained their overall lead, but were only three points behind Viviani and Conssonni. Cavendish and Doull moved up to fourth overall, while Ewan and partner Josh Harrison dropped to 14th, with four days of racing still to go.
