Four pairs take the same lap on the sixth day in Ghent for a dramatic finale.

The Ghent Six-Day will come to a dramatic finale on Sunday evening at the velodrome "T. Kuypke."

On Saturday, the fifth day, Jasper de Baist and Tosh van der Sande took the overall lead from Kenny de Ketele and Rob Gys. However, de Quetere and Gys are only one point behind, and the pair of Mark Cavendish and Iljo Caisse and Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt are also running the same laps.

De Baist-Van der Sande have 238 points, de Ketele-Giese have 237, Cavendish-Keisse have 224, and Kluge-Reinhardt have 169. In theory, any of these four pairs could have won on Sunday night.

De Ketele and Gisse got off to a good start by winning the Madison qualifier on Saturday, while de Baiste and Van der Sande went on to win the Madison main draw. Keisse and Kluge scored important points in the Delny race, and in the final Madison race, in which Jan-Willem van Schip and Yoeli Havic finished first, de Baiste and van de Sande slowly pulled away from de Ketele and Gisse in the overall standings.

The women's omnium event was dominated by world champion Kirsten Wild. The Dutchwoman won the scratch, tempo, and elimination races to take the lead over Jolien Dole and Lotte Kopecky.

In the tempo race, Simona Fraporti suffered another major fall as she was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Gerben Theisen's girlfriend, Shari Vosuit, who was admitted to the intensive care unit after crashing on opening night, was also involved in the crash, although she was not injured.

There have been a number of crashes at this year's event, including Cavendish's, and on Friday the race was suspended after a spectator spilled beer on the track.

On Wednesday, paracyclists Chris Bosman and Diederik Scherfhout went over the upper railing and crashed into the stands, Bosman suffering a compound fracture of the femur and Scherfhout a fractured vertebra. One spectator was injured in the accident.
