"I wanted to help in any way I could. All I know how to do is ride a bike, so I thought I'd do a charity ride and mirror the shift of NHS workers," Thomas said in a video message announcing the charity fundraiser at his home trainer.
"Starting Wednesday, April 15, I'm going to use Zwift here, in my garage, to do three 12-hour shifts back to back. If you'd like, you can join Zwift, make a small donation, and run with me.
"I've never run this long in one day, so I'll be pretty sore by the end of day 1, let alone day 3. I will be live streaming everything on my Facebook page so you can see me suffer."
