Dumoulin to Participate in Amstel Gold Race Virtual Ride at BKool

Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo-Visma) participated in a virtual version of the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday. This 26 km race took place on the BKool platform and included ascents of the Kruisberg, Eiserbosweg, Fromberg, Küttenberg, and Cauberg.

BKool is an online platform that also hosted the Virtual Tour of Flanders, which was won by Greg Van Avermaat (CCC). However, organizers said the Amstel Gold Race edition is not a race, but an event for all riders to enjoy.

There are three Sunday start times to choose from: 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm (Central European Time). BKool also offered a free 30-day trial, allowing prospective riders to sign up and participate in the Virtual Amstel Gold Race without having to pay.

Prior to the ride, Leo van Fleet, event director of the Amstel Gold Race, said the focus of the virtual version is "everyone who wants to challenge themselves, both touring cyclists and professional riders."

Dumoulin was one of several pro cyclists who participated in the ride; CCC-Liv riders Marianne Vos, Sabrina Stultien, and Jeanne Kolevar took to social media with their images with the hashtag #AGRathome They posted their images on social media with the hashtag #AGRathome. Chantal Black (Boels Dolmans) and Wout Poels (Bahrain McLaren) also joined the ride.

Dumoulin was not the only Jumbo Bisma rider to take on the virtual world of esports this weekend. His teammate Primoz Roglic competed in the Giro d'Italia Virtual, and Sepp Kuss defeated his teammate in the 37 km Virtual Home Trainer race on Zwift's Innsbruck course to win the Jumbo-Visma Team eRace.
