2020 European Championships, looking for a new venue

The 2020 UEC Road Cycling European Championships will be postponed until a new venue is found, organizers announced today. The event was scheduled to take place in Trento, Italy, from September 9-13, but the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has forced many European races to either find new dates or cancel their 2020 plans. 2020 UEC Road Cycling European Championships organizers are hoping to find a new location for this year's event, suggesting that the 2021 event will be held in Trento. [Maurizio Rossini, Trentino's marketing CEO, said in a press release, "Acknowledging the impact of the pandemic outbreak in recent weeks, we are satisfied with the results to everyone's satisfaction. The dates for 2021 are currently being negotiated, most likely to be held in the first half of September next year. [Elda Verones of the Trento Tourist Board said, "We have reached the most sensible decision with the full agreement of the city of Trento and all local institutions. Given how the coronavirus is affecting the economy, we can look forward to next year's event as a great opportunity to bring people together and share our common prosperity for a turnaround once the emergency is finally over."

In 2019, Elia Viviani won the men's road race and Amy Peters won the women's race.
