Trek Segafredo's Elisa Longo Borghini says she is excited to finally start the 2020 season with three races in the Basque Country this week, starting with Thursday's Emakmene Nafaroaco Classicoa.

Two weeks ago, Longo Borghini, along with teammates Audrey Cordon-Lagotto, Anna Prickta, and members of the Trek Segafredo men's team, held a high-altitude training camp in San Pellegrino in the Italian Dolomites. Three Basque races are coming up: the Emacmene Nafaroaco Classicoa on Thursday, the Classica Femenina Navarra on Friday, and the Durango Durango Emacmene Salia on Sunday.

Longo Borghini will compete in all three races, as will Ellen Van Dyke, while the rest of the team will compete in one or two of the one-day races.

"I have good memories of Durango, and the Basque Country in general," Longo Borghini said on the team's website on Wednesday, adding that he finished second in Durango Durango in 2016 behind American rider Megan Guagnier and fourth in both 2018 and 2013 He has won prizes.

"I have to say, I really like racing here. In a way, it feels like the first day of school," said the 28-year-old Italian. I love racing and it's like I was made for it, so I'm really looking forward to getting off to a good start with my teammates."

"My training in the Dolomites went really well. We had great riders and staff."

"I'm really looking forward to the race. I'm grateful to be reunited with the team in Spain after a long closure.

"Personally, I'm ready to race, although I don't know what my form will be like, coming straight from high altitude, the first couple of days can affect your performance," she said.
