Easton has entered the gravel bike dropper seatpost market with a new addition to its EA70 AX component line.
As gravel riders take on more adventurous and technically challenging routes, demand for lightweight, short-travel dropper seatposts has skyrocketed.
Given the weight and seat tube diameter constraints of gravel bikes, Easton responded with the EA70 AX.
Available in 350mm and 400mm lengths, most riders will find either EA70 AX dropper post adequate for their ergonomic requirements.
Like most rival short-travel gravel dropper seatposts, the EA70 AX is only available in a 27.2mm diameter option, the predominant size on most gravel bike frames.
The EA70 AX's dropper seatpost trigger cable can be attached from either end; the EA70 AX can converge with almost any remote lever, and the EA70 AX's cable can be attached from either end.
Easton does not yet offer its own remote control for the EA70 AX. Therefore, the company's technical staff is making it easy for customers to mix and match this new gravel dropper with remotes from other manufacturers currently available.
As for the ergonomics of the cockpit, it can be combined with compatible shifters when using the 1x drivetrain.
Mountain hardware is standard twin-bolt saddle clamp, but with zero offset and strictly internal cable routing.
Easton's gravel droppers are sealed cartridge and have a drop of 50 mm, enough for a more confident cornering line on fast gravel road descents. Another benefit of the gravel bike dropper post is its ability to facilitate safer singletrack forest detours without reducing the coefficient of fun.
Easton lists the EA70 AX dropper seatpost at $184.99, with a weight classification of 400 g for the shorter 350 mm version.
