At the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, Tom Pidcock (GBR) won his second world title in just a few days with a dominating victory in the U23 men's cross country race. The future Ineos Grenadiers rider also won the championships in Austria in E-MTB.
Pidcock won by 1:52 ahead of Christopher Blevins (USA), with Joel Ross (Switzerland) rounding out the podium.
"I am very happy to end the season in this way," said Ross. I'm relieved more than anything," said Ross. I was told I could have been in the elite race this weekend, but I wanted to finish my under-23 career in the best way possible and I don't need to look back anymore.
"It was a really tough course, the first two laps were terrible and then it was terrible the rest of the way. The downhills were really technical and very slippery, so staying on the bike was a problem.

Pidcock, 21, has had a brilliant season in all disciplines this year. He won the British national cyclo-cross title earlier this year and was second at the elite cyclo-cross world championships in Switzerland; he took three stage wins and the overall at the Baby Giro in September; and he has won the UCI World Cyclo-cross Championships in Imola. He finished 42nd in the elite road race at the UCI World Championships in Imola, but used the event as a chance to gain experience leading a team at that level, and on Wednesday, in his second year at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Austria, in the e-mtb event, he took He took a solo victory, 35 seconds ahead of his closest rival. Pidcock signed a multi-year contract with Ineos Grenadiers in September and will start competing on the World Tour next year.
