Continental Introduces SUV-Allrounder Category of Commuter Tires

Continental has introduced two new commuter tires, one for traditional bicycles and one specifically for e-bikes: the Ruban and eRuban Plus, a new category of tires that the brand calls SUV-Allrounder.

Continental says the two new tires, with their wide profiles and large knobs, were inspired by mountain bike tires. Unlike mountain bike tires, however, the new tires are more efficient on paved roads. The fast-rolling center tread combined with the large side knobs allows commuters to dash quickly down the road or into unpaved roads and single-track sectors.

The tires feature Continental's Pure Grip compound, which provides grip, resilience, and durability. The tubeless version of the Reuben features a woven fabric, Shield Wall, that prevents punctures and reduces rolling resistance. It also features PolyX breaker technology, adapted from automotive tires, for enhanced durability and puncture protection.

The Louvain is available in clincher and tubeless versions in sizes ranging from 27.5x2.1" to 29x2.6". The clincher version also offers the option of reflective sidewalls. Although the Ruben is designed for regular bicycles, Continental says it can also be used on e-bikes up to 25 km/h/15 mph. [The eRuban Plus is available in clincher only, in sizes ranging from 26x2.3" to 29x2.6". It can also be purchased with reflective sidewalls. Continental says it can be used on e-bikes up to 27 mph (45 km/h). [Prices start at €25.90 for the Ruban and €31.90 for the eRuban Plus, and both tires are available through Continental distributors.
