GT Launches Grade e-Gravel Series

GT today announced an all-new series of electric bikes, the Grade Power Series.

The Amp and Bolt aim to be the best electric gravel bikes with drop bars and Shimano GRX groupset, while the flat bar "Current" is for adventurous commuters who want to make a detour home.

All models feature a 6061-series aluminum frame with a 250 Wh lithium-ion battery that sends energy to the rear wheel via a small cable connector; GT's designers did not use a mid-drive motor but instead used a 250 W rated Ebikemotion X35+ hub motor.

The GT was updated in grade to target riders who use it as an all-terrain commuter bike during the week and as a bikepacking tourer on the weekends. In addition to the two common bottle cage mounts, the Grade Power Series frames have two additional mounting points on the top tube, seatstays, and downtube. In addition to these, the frames feature rack mounts and fender mounts front and rear.

To increase riding compliance on long gravel road rides, the GT grade has a floating seatstay, increasing vertical compliance by 50%. For an even softer ride or when traction is needed on steep gravel road climbs on loose surfaces, the grades can be equipped with tires up to 42c wide.

GT offers four frame sizes. The smallest of these has a head angle of 69.5 degrees, while the medium, large, and extra-large grades have head angles around 71 degrees.

Market positioning for the GT grade range starts at £2,300.00 (€2,399.00) for the Grade Current with 700mm flat bar and Tektro M275 hydraulic disc brakes MicroSHIFT Advent X 1x10 drivetrain with WTB Nano Comp tires, shifting with.

The £2,700.00 (€2,799.00) Grade Bolt upgrades to a GRX 400-spec 2x10 drivetrain sourced from Shimano. The first of the derivatives is the £2,900.00 (€3,199.00) Grade Amp, which has a Shimano GRX 800 1x11 drivetrain with 700x42 size WTB Resolute TCS tires, larger than any of the grades.

All models are dropper seatpost compatible, for those who want to build a more confident e-gravel bike for tricky descents.
