Serle San Marco has released a new series of saddles dedicated to the off-road market, including mountain biking, adventure riding, and gravel.
The new saddles are an evolution of the GND saddle from Serre San Marco and are another dedicated off-road saddle from the brand. The difference between the new Ground saddles is in their dimensions: the GND saddle comes in two widths, narrow (140 mm) and wide (155 mm), 5 mm wider than the GND saddle and 255 mm shorter in length. As a result, the saddle has a rather curved shape.
Short-nosed saddles are becoming increasingly popular in the road and performance gravel markets, with many brands adding snub saddles to their lineups. Selle San Marco claims that the saddle's 7mm shorter length and compactness improves performance and comfort when riding over technical terrain.
Selle San Marco has designed the Ground series specifically for off-road riding in order to optimize it for dirt riding. Off-road riding involves many steeper climbs than road riding and requires the rider to remain seated in order not to lose traction. For this reason, Serre San Marco has added a pronounced rise in the tail section of the Ground saddle to provide better support when pedaling up extreme grades.
All saddles have cutouts for pressure release and use Selle San Marco's Pullform, which provides padding that can vary in thickness for comfort and vibration absorption.
Selle San Marco offers three saddles in its Ground series: the Sport is an entry-level saddle with carbon steel rails, weighing 350 grams and costing €49.00. The Dynamic with manganese rails weighs 290g and the Carbon FX with DNA carbon rails weighs 215g and costs €79.00 and €149.00 respectively.
