Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) and world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Absolute Absalon BMC) are in good shape for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup opener in Albstadt, Germany, May 8-9

Pidcock took his first win in elite men's mountain biking, while Ferrand-Prevot earned a third-place podium finish this weekend in Leukerbad.

Pidcock, who finished 6th in La Flèche Wallonne two weeks ago, won the Swiss Bike Cup elite men's mountain bike ahead of Titouan Carrod (Absolut Absalon BMC) in 2nd and Sean Fincham (Norco Factory Team) in 3rd. (Norco Factory Team) in third place.

"It was a good race and I felt really good. It was fun. It was my first mountain bike race of the year, so I can't complain," Pidcock said. He now has his sights set on representing Great Britain in the mountain biking events at the Tokyo Olympics in August.

"It's a good course. The climbs really suited me and I'm here to prepare for the World Cup.

Phelan-Prevot was third behind Mona Mitterwalner (Trek-Vaud), winner of the elite women's race, and former world champion Kate Courtney (Scott-SRAM).

"Last preparation race," Ferrand-Prevot posted on Instagram after her third-place finish in the Swiss Bike Cup. 'I'm happy because I can finally breathe a little bit now. I wasn't feeling my best today so I'll take joy in this 3rd place.

"The Absolut Absalon BMC team will be in Vosges for three days before heading to the World Cup venue in Germany! It is the first test and not my objective.

Ferrand-Prevot currently leads the UCI Cross Country World Ranking based on accumulated points earned in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

She made her debut with Absolut Absalon-BMC at the Copa Catalana Internacional in Bañoles, Spain on February 27, finishing seventh.

He then won the MTB Bundesliga's Fullgaz Race powered by Ghost int. in March, finishing 6th in the Cross Country Olympics and 4th in the Short Circuit. He also placed 2nd in the Italian International Series Marlene Sudtirol Sunshine Race in April.

Ferrand-Prevot is committed to the cross-country competition at the Tokyo Olympics.
