Lightweight today announced an all-new gravel wheelset: the Pfadfinder Evo gravel wheelset, made of full carbon, for disc brakes only, with a depth of 36 mm and an inner width of 24 mm.
Constructed of special high modulus CFRP fiber,
the wheelset is said to be "the first of its kind in the world, The carbon layup is said to be optimized for increased robustness. It is also tubeless compatible and has low sensitivity to crosswinds. As tire widths are becoming increasingly wider in the gravel market, the Fadfinder Evo wheelset can be fitted with 700c tires up to 40mm wide. Both front and rear wheelsets use 20 spokes and are compatible with SRAM, Shimano, and Campagnolo group sets.
Handcrafted in Germany, the wheelset is broadly based on the brand's Wegweiser Evo road wheelset, but optimized for gravel, which Lightweight markets as an all-around gravel wheelset.
The wheels also come in a Schwarz ED version with black spokes, rims, and logos, and ceramic speed bearings.
Even though wheel weight is not as important in the best gravel wheels, with a name like Lightweight, the numbers on the scale are always a topic of conversation: the wheelset set for the SRAM 12 speed weighs 1430 g. 670 g front, 760 g rear. .
Available at Lightweight.info and at select retailers; Lightweight has not yet announced pricing, so they won't be cheap, as Lightweight's reputation suggests.
