Cycling News, the global center of cycling, continues to grow and is looking for a staff writer (opens in new tab) to join its European editorial team based in Bath.
The primary responsibility of the new role will be to produce content for Cycling News, and applicants should have a strong interest and knowledge of professional cycling, excellent English language and communication skills (often across a variety of time zones), and experience editing and writing as a sub-editor The successful applicant will.
Duties of the Cycling News staff writer include writing news and features, producing race reports, results, and photos, and thoroughly editing the work of colleagues.
Familiarity with online production technology, journalism experience, and attention to detail are paramount. Familiarity with online production applications, content management systems, and basic HTML is also necessary.
As with other disciplines such as cyclocross, track, and gravel, a strong knowledge of women's cycling is desirable, as is knowledge of bicycle technology. A second language would be helpful but not required
There will be international travel to events and races throughout the year. Cycling News has staff in Europe, the US, and Australia and delivers news 24/7, so this position will also require regular weekend work at production sites and race venues. Applicants are expected to have a flexible work schedule, but the majority of work is performed during regular weekday business hours.
