Lotte Kopecký said she is feeling good in preparation for this weekend's Belgian Cyclocross Championships in Middelkerke.Racing with her new SD Worx kit, Kopecký finished 4th in the Hexia Cyclocross Gullegem on Tuesday.
"I was happy to finish fourth despite missing some of the top riders," Kopecky said. I am looking forward to the Belgian Championships in Middelkerke this Saturday," Kopecky said after the race.
Shirin van Anrooij (Baloise Trek Lions) won the Hexia cyclocross Gullegem, Magalie Rochette was second, 17-year-old Zoe Backstedt (Tormans) was third, and Kopecky was fourth and Kopecky followed in fourth.
The C2 race in Gullegem did not feature any big names in the elite women's field, such as world champion Lucinda Brand, but it was an opportunity to fine-tune her form for the Belgian cyclo-cross championships on Saturday and Sunday.
Kopecky is a world champion in points races and a national road and time trial champion. He was second to Sanne Canto in last year's national cyclocross championships. Kopecky has not made cyclocross a priority, but will still be in contention for the title.
This season, Kopecký has competed in three cyclocross races, finishing 25th at the UCI World Cup Dendermonde, 29th at the UCI World Cup Furst in her debut in the new SD Worx kit, and 4th at the Gurlegem.
She signed a three-year contract with SD Worx through 2024 and said that while her top priority is the 2022 Spring Classics, she will also continue opportunities in cyclocross and track events.
