Tom Pidcock My condition will be good for the World Championships.

Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) is hoping his form continues to improve as he heads to the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, January 28-31.

Pidcock is one of the main contenders in next weekend's battle for the rainbow jersey.

"Conditions are good next week. It will be a hard, fast race and a good battle. Everyone has a chance. Next week will be interesting," Pidcock said.

Pidcock, an Olympic gold medalist in cross-country mountain biking, has finished on the podium in five of the six UCI Cyclocross World Cup races this season, winning in Luxembourg and Hulst.

With the absence of Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands) and Wout Van Aert (Belgium), Pidcock will be up against riders from the Belgian and Dutch teams.

Beglium will be joined by UCI Cyclocross World Cup Series winners Eli Iserbitt, Quinten Hermans, Toon Aerts, Michael Van Tulenhout, Jens Adams, Vincent Vestans, Daan Soete and Laurens The team will send eight riders, including Sweck. The Dutch team will feature two European champions, Lars van de Haar and Kone van Kessel.

"We have a lot of riders who can win next week. The track is quite similar and it will be a good race," Pidcock said of the circuit designed for the World Championships at Centennial Park.

Pidcock, who was eliminated from contention for the win in this weekend's race after a last-lap crash, finished fifth in Saturday's X2O Budkammers Flandriencross in Hamme, behind winner Sweek, Aerts, Yzerbito and van der Haar.

In Sunday's final UCI Cyclocross World Cup race at Hoogerheide, Pidcock led alone for most of the middle part of the race before finishing third behind Yzerbeit and van der Haar. In the final laps of the race, Pidcock responded to Iserbyt's attack, but it was not enough to close the gap to the winner.

Yzerbito took his 14th win of the season in Hoogerheide, two seconds ahead of van der Haar, who sprinted past Pidcock in third place.

"I think I overcooked the match a bit. It was pretty tough to run at the front. They were making mistakes, but that always meant there was a new rider at the front. There weren't enough gaps to break the rubber. I was a little complacent and Eli [Yzerbito] had a little gap on me." Pidcock said of his race in Vogelheide.

"This is not the end. But we have time to recover a little bit this week, and everything will lead to next week."
