Uran, Caruso, and Haig fall late in Tour de France, losing 39 seconds

While several riders, including then race leader Yves Lampère, recovered from a late stage crash and avoided significant time loss on stage 2 of the Tour de France, many riders were unable to avoid that fate on stage 3, Thorndelvoie.

A crash occurred in the center of the peloton as the road narrowed 10 km before the finish.

Rigoberto Uran (EF Education - Easy Post) was one of the riders who managed to return to the peloton on Saturday, but lost 39 seconds in Denmark on the final day.

He joined a group of just over 50 others, including Bahrain Victorious leaders Jack Hague and Damiano Caruso, Israel Premier Tech co-leader Michael Woods, and Intermarke Wantigover's GC Hope, Louis Maintus.

Others involved included Woods' teammates Chris Froome, Guillaume Martin (Cofidis), and Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), while Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) finished as part of the same group, dropping from 9th overall to 39th

3rd stage.

Stage 3 winner Dylan Groenewegen (Bike Exchange-Jayco) said afterwards that the crash left him stranded, but noted that it was with the help of his team that he was able to return to the front of the race during the hectic run to the finish.

Here are the GC standings after stage 3.
