After Crash at Tour de France, Schachmann Blames "Dangerous" Ride by Roglic and Jumbo Visma

German rider Maximilian Schachmann has come in for scathing criticism, claiming that the riders of Jumbo-Visma were responsible for a crash that occurred on stage 6 of the Tour de France.

The crash occurred 13 km from the finish in Long Vie. One Jumbo-Visma rider fell to the left and two more to the right, with Kevin Jenietz of Groupama-FDJ and Reinhard Janse van Rensberg of Lotto Soudal being the most affected.

Schachmann, of Bora-Hansgrohe, spoke about the incident, claiming that Primos Rogerci caused the crash when he tried to push to the front of the pack.

"He was very lucky not to crash himself," Schachmann told various German media.

"Jumbo has to relax a little bit. Because they run like crazy at the last centimeter and can't do it and hang by the wayside."

Schachmann felt that the riding style of the Dutch team was endangering others and criticized them.

"It is a clear criticism from my side because it is dangerous for all riders and in my opinion completely unnecessary.

"When there is no space, there is simply no space, and you must admit that you are not at the front right now.

Janse van Rensburg was then able to get back on his bike and finish the stage. No other riders were injured in the crash.

Jumbo-Visma suffered a series of problems on stage 5, on the cobbles from Lille-Metropole to Arenberg.

Roglic is now in 28th place overall, 2:27 behind leader Tadej Pogachar. Jonas Vingegaard, co-leader of Jumbo Visma, is third.

Beulah Hansgrohe has survived the chaos of the past two stages and is in seventh place, 52 seconds behind leader Alexandre Vlasov. Vlasov crashed on the run-in on stage 6, but finished in the main group.
