Soudal Quickstep announces the 2023 color.

Quick Step-Alfa Vinyl has confirmed that the Belgian team will become Soudal-Quick Step in 2023, moving the adhesive brand from Lot Soudal to augment the team budget for the next five years.

The team unveiled its new jersey and team colors for 2023 at a special event during the Tour de France rest day in Morzine. 2023 team colors are dark blue with a white area on the chest and a red stripe with the Soudal and Quick Step logos will be highlighted.

"I am proud to announce that Soudal will be joining us for the next five years," announced veteran team director Patrick Lefebvre.

"I am an old hand in cycling, but I think this is the first time in my career that I can announce a five-year contract. That's why I'm here, not retired. I am proud to be here and to announce this news," Lefebvre said.

Soudal has been involved in cycling for nine years and has chosen to join forces with Lefevere, whose successes include Julian Alaphilippe, Remco Evenepoel, and Fabio Jakobsen.

Lot Soudal has already announced the addition of a new co-title sponsor for the 2023 season. Window manufacturer Deceuninck has left Lefevere's team to sponsor Mathieu van der Poel's Alpecin-Fenix team in the Belgian sponsored merry-go-round.

"We ran as Soudal Lotto in international races outside Belgium and recognized that cycling sponsorship is a really good part of our marketing mix. It gives us a lot of exposure," said Soudal CEO Dirk Kulevitz at the announcement in Morzine.

"I think we can go to the next level with Patrick and Quick Step. They have accomplished a lot and are the most successful team of the last decade. I wanted to pair up with them because we share the same ambition to chase."

Quick Step returns for its 20th year of sponsorship and a prominent place on the front of the jersey under Sourdal.

"We want to create stability so that the athletes can race well, perform well, and so that we can cheer them on together," said Ruben Desmet, CEO of Unilin Flooring-Quick Step.

"The important thing now is to create the stability to build a winning team. We have two strong building materials companies in the same sector."

"I look forward to seeing Jersey cross the line first time and again. I think I'm going to like Jersey a lot more and I think we're going to see more wins."

In the absence of world champion Julien Alaphilippe, Quick-Step Alphavinir is looking for a stage win in this year's Tour de France. Yves Lampaert won the opening time trial stage in Copenhagen, while Fabio Jacobsen won in Nyborg.

Lampaert showed off his new jersey, sparking questions about his future with the team. Lefebvre revealed that a deal was forthcoming that would extend Lampaert's contract through 2023 and secure a larger budget.

"There will certainly be a bigger budget, but the players have agents and they want more money. After we pay this, I'll see what's left to invest in the team." He said nothing about Mark Cavendish's role in the team after reports that Mark Cavendish was not eligible for 2023.

"We already have a winning team of 13 nationalities. Sometimes we say yes, sometimes we say no," Lefebvre said.

"Yves and I are both from West Flanders, and a handshake is worth more than a contract. No contract has been signed yet, but his agent put a pistol to my head.

Evenpoel is targeting this year's Vuelta a EspaƱa and could debut in the Tour de France in 2023, but Sourdal's CEO declined to make a selection decision.

"We are on a five-year journey and want to grow gradually," Kulevitz said.

"We are not responsible for dictating who should be in which race. Certainly Lemko is one of the main riders on the team, but we don't want to interfere. We don't want to put pressure on Lemko."

"We like some pressure, but not too much," Lefevere added.

"We like money, but it doesn't involve too much in our sports plan. There is no stress; we are not going to sleep now because we signed a five-year contract, but we don't put pressure on our players."
