Le Cor Wahoo, the next generation in the Tour de France Femmes

Le Col Wahoo has announced the six-rider team that will compete in the Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift, July 24-31. The British team is one of seven wildcard teams invited to the event and will aim to succeed by playing a key role in each stage.

"The entire team, both riders and staff, are very much looking forward to taking part in the Tour de France Femme. We put a lot of effort and motivation into this event," said Tom Varney, General Manager of Le Corps Wahoo.

"The way we approach the Tour, we want to play a role every day; we don't have a GC leader, but we have riders who can shine on all eight stages."

This is the next big step toward Le Cor Wahoo's goal of joining the top class of the Women's World Team in the future.

The team is led by Lizzie Holden, who returns to the team this year after spending two seasons with Biscayne Durango.

She took bronze in the time trial at the British national championships, fourth in the road race, and finished in the top five in stages of the Lotto Belgium Tour and the Thuringian Ladies Tour. She aimed to carry these good results into the Tour de France Femme.

The team also includes Majo Van Gerouf, Meike van der Duyn, Jesse Vanderbrucke, retired field field hockey player and newcomer Eva van Ackt, and Gladys Verhulst.

"Simply put, our goal is to win a stage. A lofty goal, of course, but we believe in our dream! We want to #ColourTheRoad," said Le Col Wahoo's Directeur Sportif Nicolas Marche.

"We will strive to show initiative throughout the week, starting with a group sprint on stage 1. Meiche will be able to get the best result on the Champs-Élysées and start the Tour de France in a great way.

"After the first day, I want to create opportunities in the break with aggressive riders like Jesse and Gladys.

"Newcomer Eva is still discovering what kind of rider she will be, but we are confident that her talent will shine in the mountains. Mayo will be an important team player who will support and position the team in key parts of the course."

The eight-day race will start on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, coinciding with the final 21st stage of the Tour de France men's race. It will also include two pensure stages, a gravel section, four flat stages, and a mountain stage that will conclude at the top of La Super Planche des Belle Filles.
