Pidcock cools down from the extreme heat of the Tour de France with a fountain

Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) jumped into a fountain to cool down after the 202.5 km stage to Carcassonne.

Ineos Grenadiers provided the riders with an ice bath after the stage, but Pidcock took it upon himself to provide it after the stage.

The young British rider, like his teammates, took a cold dip, donned an ice vest, and discussed the stage outside the team bus, but that was not enough. The British team filmed the moment and posted the video on social media.

Pidcock overcame the barriers to reach the fountain, thanked the crowd for congratulating him on his stage win at L'Alpe d'Huez, and entered the fountain's low water. He then cooled off under various jets of water, washed off the day's sweat, and returned to the Ineos Grenadiers team bus.

Climbing into public fountains is prohibited throughout Europe, but Pidcock managed to cool down before local police and officials noticed.

The 22-year-old Yorkshireman has already shown his talent in mountain biking, cyclocross, and road racing, and is one of the Tour de France's hottest riders. He won the stage to L'Alpe d'Huez, boldly descending the Galibier pass at speeds in excess of 100 km/h.

As the Tour de France enters its third rest day in Carcassonne on Monday, Pidcock is in ninth place overall, 8:49 behind leader Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma).
