Cordon-Lago Trek-Segafredo Achieves Team Goal in Tour de France Femmes

Winning a stage of the Tour de France Femmes is the dream of Frenchwoman Audrey Cordon-Lago, but Trek-Segafredo's Cordon-Lago has made it clear that the overarching goal of the team is her top priority.

Cordón-Lago's main responsibility is to help Elisa Balsamo win the first stage in Paris and to support Balsamo and Elisa Longo Borghini throughout the race for stage and class wins.

"Of course I dream of winning a stage. Of course I dream of winning a stage. But I know it will be difficult with the team we have now. We won the yellow jersey in the first stage and we have to defend it."

"So I will work for the team and I hope Elisa Balsamo will win the yellow jersey on the Champs Elysees. I hope the team does well and we can wear the yellow jersey and win a stage. And if there is a chance, of course I would like to grab it."

The 32-year-old may have a chance, as there are several stages in this Tour that are suitable for breakaway and opportunistic riders, but she says her ambitions are "next to" the team's plans for the jersey and a stage win.

"Of course it would be great if it was with me," she said. But before I can think about myself, I have to think about the team first."

Trek-Segafredo has already turned its attention to the gravel roads of stage 4, and the support of a team like Cordón-Lago will be key to a decisive day.

"For our team, this is one of the most amazing stages," he said. 'So let's see how we play on this stage and how we can gain time. We can't let this opportunity pass us by."

Cordon-Lago will start Paris wearing the French tricolor jersey after winning both the road race and time trial last month.

"For me, my goal was to start the race wearing the national jersey. So I can say I've already achieved it and I've crossed it off my bucket list."

By wearing the jersey and becoming one of the most famous French riders at her home race, Cordon-Lago will be in the spotlight, which she says is more fun than intimidating.

"I can't say I'm feeling pressure," she said. 'They just want me to play well and have fun.' The pressure is more on

." I may be going to enjoy this tool the most, enjoy the public, the crowd, the tricolor jersey on my shoulder, and just enjoy being me, Audrey. It's French for "chou chou" (crowd favorite), and I like it. No pressure, enjoy the race, and give 100% for the team.
