After five days in yellow, two stage wins and the green jersey almost assured, Marianne Vos achieved "more than she dreamed of" at the Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift.
After winning in Provins and taking the jersey on Monday, Vos held the lead all week, and on Friday she achieved her next goal: winning in yellow.
"It's the same feeling," the Jumbo-Visma rider said of his stage 6 victory. Of course winning a stage is special, but I've been working with the team to get second place and today we got our chance."
"For us in the front, we wanted to win a stage [in this race]. And now we have our second win in the yellow jersey.
Despite spending more than half the race in the yellow jersey, Vos is realistic about his chances of holding onto the jersey for long, but is reluctant to give himself up completely.
"Looking at the profile for tomorrow and Sunday, it's definitely not my race. But there are some really good climbers this weekend that the GC riders are targeting."
Vos, who did not finish in the top five throughout the race, took the green jersey. She is 76 points behind Lorena Wiebes, a gap that the DSM rider can only close by winning both the remaining stages and the intermediate sprint.
The green jersey was not a stated goal of Vos or her team before the race, but she knew it was something she could achieve alongside her other goals.
"It's not a coincidence," she said. 'We were going for the stage win and we knew that by doing that we would of course be trying to get to the front every day. So going for the green jersey also meant expending a lot of energy in the process.
"Obviously, we got some points in the process and to be in this position for the green jersey going into the final weekend is really great.
Taking the green jersey is a welcome bonus for one of the peloton's most decorated riders, but it's clear she got her wish in her return to the Tour de France Fam, even with two days remaining.
"Monday was already a magical moment for me. I couldn't have wished for anything more. To have my last weekend in the yellow jersey is more than a dream come true."
